Shark Tank India-Featured OTT Platform STAGE Raises INR 40 Cr for Regional Language Content
STAGE, an Indian OTT platform that provides content in Haryanvi and Rajasthani languages, has recently raised INR 40 crore ($5.5 million) in a funding round led by Blume Ventures. The round also saw participation from several other investors including NB Ventures, Dholakia Ventures, TSM Ventures, WeFounderCircle, Mumbai Angels, Tarmac Ventures, Tailwind Ventures, Longtail Ventures, Lets Ventures, and AngelList.
Founded in 2019 by Vinay Singhal, Shashank Vaishnav, and Parveen Singhal, STAGE has made a name for itself by offering a unique blend of entertainment in regional languages. The platform initially started with Haryanvi content, but later expanded to include Rajasthani dialects in June 2022. This move has helped STAGE attract a large audience, with the platform reportedly boasting more than 225,000 subscribers, and adding an additional 25,000 subscribers each month.
STAGE has plans to use the recently raised funds to “go deeper in Haryana and Rajasthan to create more original content and grow the product,” according to co-founder Vinay Singhal. This will likely involve investing in new production and marketing efforts, as well as potentially expanding to additional regional languages in the future.
In addition to its financial success, STAGE has also recently gained attention for its appearance on Shark Tank India. The episode featuring the OTT platform is set to air in the coming episodes, further increasing the visibility of the company.
